The European Union took a decisive step on 3 June by publishing its «technological sovereignty package», which sets out a definition of the ‘sovereign cloud’ for the first time and incorporates it into public procurement. In a detailed analysis, Sébastien Lescop, managing director of the specialist firm Cloud Temple, welcomes this long-awaited decision but warns of the challenges involved in its implementation and the lack of a proactive approach.
As far as he is concerned, the fundamental question remains: «Does Europe want to protect itself, or does it want to win?».
