FortiGate Virtual Firewall

Overview

Virtualised environments in public or private clouds require advanced protection against threats, just as physical infrastructures do. Fortinet’s FortiGate virtual appliance enables you to secure your virtual applications, servers and networks within the Cloud Temple infrastructure.

FortiGate combines next-generation firewall (NGFW), intrusion prevention (IPS), anti-virus and anti-malware protection, web filtering and application control functions. Network segmentation enables you to control traffic between the different zones of your Information System. The availability of features depends on the version, licences and configuration deployed.

IPsec and SSL VPN functions, depending on the supported version and configuration, enable you to secure interconnections and remote access. SD-WAN capabilities help manage links and traffic between your sites and your cloud environments.

On Cloud Temple, FortiGate can be used to protect the perimeter of your cloud environment, interconnect your sites with your resources hosted elsewhere, secure remote access, control traffic between networks and enhance protection against threats using compatible FortiGuard security services.

FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer are complementary components – the availability of which depends on the licences and options selected – for the centralised management of devices and the analysis of security logs and events.

How to use

This image is available for OpenIaaS, VMware and VM Instances deployments. Availability depends on the features enabled in your environment and the permissions associated with the target. For further details, please see our quick start guide.

Deployment options:

• Deploy on an OpenIaaS infrastructure
• Deploy on VMware infrastructure
• Deploy to a VM Instance from the Marketplace.

Cloud Temple guarantees the deployment capability of the template image and the availability of the underlying infrastructure. This includes the ability to instantiate the image on the virtualised environment. However, support for the application content and the proper internal functioning of the template image is the responsibility of its publisher. This includes, in particular:

• Software patches and updates
• Application bug resolution
• Assistance with configuring the services contained in the image
• Application compatibility with the environment

Cloud Temple provides no support commitment regarding the actual content of the template image, its applications, or their functional behaviour.
