With the emergence of Big Data, the need to accelerate artificial intelligence learning seems paramount.
By dedicating their new processor to Deap Learning, Intel is responding to this need for acceleration!
Deep Learning, unlike Machine Learning, is capable of making its own correlations between information and a desired decision, using matrix calculations.
New information is constantly coming in, and processing it more quickly is essential.
Nervana is not a processor like the others, its particularity lies in its optimisation for Deep Learning (matrix calculations); and there are very few processors optimised for this type of operation!
Until now, Intel has not been clearly positioned in the deep learning market, unlike Nvidia, one of the market leaders. Google has also experimented with its Tensorsflow API.
Thanks to Nervana, Intel is catching up and could well compete with Nvidia, one of the world leaders in the sector!
